The remaining Dancing With the Stars Season 33 teams are tackling routines that they are dedicated to some of the most important people in their lives, and Joey Graziadei is making his devotion to fiancee Kelsey Anderson known with the song he is performing on week 4 of the ABC competition.
The Bachelor alum has faced criticism over seeming “too close” to his partner Jenna Johnson throughout the season, something Kelsey already addressed, as did Joey, who admitted he purposely requested a married partner out of respect to his fiancee and potential rumors that could emerge about a romance that didn’t exist.
However, with some fans still scrutinizing every move he and Jenna make, Joey has once again opted to try and make it clear that he is devoted to Kelsey by dedicating his new routine to her – something she has also responded to.
Now, a closer look at the song he will be dancing his upcoming Viennese Waltz to further indicates just how passionately he feels about the woman he plans to marry.
Joey and Jenna are dancing to the Teddy Swims song Lose Control, and the lyrics tell the tale of someone who feels genuine anguish when he is separated from his loved one.
“Out of my mind, how many times/Did I tell you I’m no good at bein’ alone?/Yeah, it’s takin’ a toll on me, trying my best to keep/from tearin’ the skin off my bones, don’t you know,” he sings in the song.
Other lyrics include: “I lose control/when you’re not next to me{when you’re not here with me)/I’m fallin’ apart right in front of you, can’t you see?/I lose control/When you’re not next to me, mm-hm/Yeah, you’re breaking’ my heart, baby/You make a mess of me.”
Most telling are the lyrics for the second verse, where the love is painted like something addictive.
“Problematic/Problem is I want your body like a fiend, like a bad habit/Bad habits hard to break when I’m with you/Yeah, I know, I could do it on my own/But I want that real full moon black magic and it takes two.”
Fans know that Joey and Kelsey became engaged on his season of The Bachelor, and have been together ever since, but that hasn’t stopped fans from fearing that the closeness to Jenna, a necessary part of their partnership.
All three have since spoken out against criticism, reminding skeptics that as a professional dancer, she is required to touch her partner for most dance moves, and the two also have to sell a story with routines.
They have also all pointed out that Jenna is happily married to fellow pro Val Chmerkovskiy, with whom she also shares a one-year-old son.
If Joey sells the routine well, fans may finally have their doubts put to rest once and for all–and could retain his place at the top of the judges’ leaderboard.
He won’t have any competition this week in terms of dance style, as the other remaining teams will all be tackling other styles.
Also getting solo styles this week are Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko, who are dancing a Salsa to J Balvin and Willy William’s Mi Gente, which is dedicated to her sisters, and Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold, who are performing an Argentine Tango to Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes and dedicating it to men’s gymnastics.
Also getting a solo routine is Jenn Tran and her partner Sasha Farber, who are dancing a Foxtrot to The Archer by Taylor Swift, and dedicating it to the singer herself.
Danny Amendola and Witney Carson and Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong are facing off with Contemporary routines. The NFL pro is performing to Unsteady (Erich Lee Gravity Remix) by X Ambassadors and dedicating his performance to former NCAA head football coach Mike Leach, while the actress is dancing to Lee Ann Womack’s I Hope You Dance, and dedicating it to her mother.
